ISEN Interns Bridge Cultures and Technology with Digital Wayang

Jakarta – Pierre Le Gac, Noé Détré, and Alban Bergounioux from the Institut supérieur de l’électronique et du numérique (ISEN)- have begun a three-month internship at our Computer Engineering Department. They were motivated by the strong collaborative connections and positive feedback from their predecessors at ISEN who had previously participated in the program under the guidance of Dr. Rinda Hedwig, S.Kom., M.T., our esteemed lecturer in Computer Engineering.

Under the guidance of Dr. Rinda, they are delving into the “Automatic Wayang Beber” project. This unique initiative blends traditional Indonesian puppetry with modern digital technology. The project offers them a distinctive opportunity to apply their skills in a setting that combines cultural heritage and cutting-edge technology.

During the early stages of their internship, they visited our partner, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana to learn about mechanical engineering, a subject they hadn’t studied before. Introducing a new field has become a memorable part of their experience!

Three of them also had time to enjoy the best of our countries. Destinations such as Mojokerto, Kawah Ijen, Bali, and Lombok were on the list as part of a way to immerse in the richness of cultural and natural experiences!

“Engaging in this project allows us to apply our skills to Indonesian cultural stories. We’re eager to write the script and record voiceovers in English and French,” said Pierre and   Noé.

The focus on engaging for impact is at the heart of what we are doing at BINUS University. We aim to partner with the best and provide opportunities to learn best practices from our experts. The internship experience not only enhances technical skills but also provides valuable cross-cultural perspectives and interdisciplinary insights.
